4.3.3 Application documents for the supplementary European search report 

The European grant procedure, including the supplementary European search, is based on the application documents specified by the applicant when the application enters the European phase (Rule 159(1)(b)). However, if the applicant amends the application within a non-extendable period of six months from notification of a communication under Rule 161(2) (see E‑IX, 3), the amended application will be taken as the basis for the supplementary European search instead (see also B‑XI, 2).
