6. Election of states 

The filing of the demand constitutes the election of all contracting states which are designated and are bound by Chapter II of the PCT for a national and, where possible a regional, patent at the same time. If, after filing the PCT request, the applicant has validly withdrawn a designation, the filing of the demand cannot constitute the election of that state.
