MyEPO services: release of new functionalities
The European Patent Office (EPO) is pleased to announce a series of new functionalities that make the MyEPO services suite even more efficient and user-friendly.
Following this year’s successful launch of the AI-driven Legal Interactive Platform and a new option to request priority documents in electronic form, we are continuing our path towards full digitalisation of the patent granting process by 2027. Today, the European Patent Office (EPO) is pleased to announce a series of new functionalities within its online services, further advancing our goals of enhancing user experience, increasing efficiency, and simplifying processes.
In close collaboration with our user community, the following was implemented over the last weeks:
- The Mailbox can receive a wider range of EPO documents i.e. additional Boards of Appeal-related communications
The platform that displayed the schedule of fees has been decommissioned. The schedule of fees is now available in a new interface with a refreshed look
- New portal for Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) Given that many companies use their own IP management systems, the EPO had introduced business-to-business technical interfaces to enable automatic data exchange between systems. To assist users’ IT experts in implementing these, a new developer platform was made available earlier this year. The MyEPO Developer Portal provides information, instructions, technical specifications, as well as sandboxes for trying out and installing available APIs that link MyEPO or Online Filing 2.0 with users’ systems.
Expanded functionalities, adapted layout
In consultation with our user groups, the EPO is reviewing the design of key MyEPO interfaces to make them more user-friendly, at the same time as accommodating the growing range of available and upcoming functionalities. In a first step, a redesigned MyEPO start page will soon be released to our pilot users for feedback and will be launched for all users later this year. If you would like to become a pilot user, please use the link below.
Expanded purpose, new name
What started in 2022 as “MyEPO Portfolio”, a simple and secure way to consult files and communications, has since grown into a comprehensive platform. Today, it offers a wide range of features ranging from submission of actions or requests, managing access rights, as well as offering role-specific areas (shared area, representative area) and cutting-edge tools. With well over 9 000 registered applicants, professional representatives, and associations using it, MyEPO Portfolio has become the central hub of our "MyEPO services" and will become even more so in the future. To reflect this expanded scope, MyEPO Portfolio is now simply known as “MyEPO”. The legal framework for this change was amended at the end of March.

Looking ahead
As we advance through 2025, we will remain committed to delivering high quality products and services, including by further developing our online services in collaboration with our user community. Our goal is to ensure that every step of the way is smooth, efficient, user-centric and focused on maintaining the highest standards of service.
In particular 2025 will see:
- improved usability of MyEPO interfaces (redesign)
- an option to download multimedia citations
a simpler form for submitting third-party observations allowing third parties to contribute to the examination or opposition
an option to create associations
- extension of the possibility for making bulk requests
- additional self-management options
- enhancement to the Shared Area
- the complete decommissioning of the Online Filing (eOLF) software (including version 5.15) at the end of the 2025. After that, Online Filing 2.0 will be the sole tool for filing with the EPO
- and much more
For updates on future changes and enhancements, please check our Online User Engagement Pipeline and stay tuned for our announcements.
