Improvements in the European Patent Register
More countries have joined the Federated Register and the deep-linking service, providing quick access to the legal status of granted European patents in even more member states.
The Federated Register continues to grow
Last June, the Republic of Moldova was the first validation state to join the Federated Register. Hungary, a member state, has now also joined, making it easy to access reliable and up-to-date bibliographic and legal status information on European patents validated in Hungary (Figure 1).
The Federated Register has now grown to include 34 participating states, totalling 77% of the EPO's 44 member, extension, and validation states. This share is even higher if we just consider the 38 EPO member states, out of which 84% are now participating in the Federated Register service.
Part of the European Patent Register, the Federated Register presents reliable and up-to-date bibliographic and legal status information on granted European patents in a single table overview once these have entered the "national phase" in participating countries. By allowing users to get a better, up-to-date picture of the national legal status of patents, the service helps to reduce the risk of litigation.
Read more about the Federated Register, its country integration status and content as provided by each participating national patent office on the Federated Register webpage and the Federated Register help page.
Ultimately, it is the goal of the Federated Register to offer access to the legal status of a granted European patent across all the member states, as well as the extension and validation states. We'll keep you posted as more countries join.

Direct link from the European Patent Register to the national patent register of San Marino
The San Marino patent register is now available via deep link from the European Patent Register. This reflects continuous improvements in the European Patent Register and brings the total number of states participating in the deep-linking service to thirty-eight.
Reliable legal status information on European patents that have been validated in San Marino is now just a click away in the Legal status and Federated register views.
Each patent office participating in the deep-linking service has defined which of its documents can be accessed via it. Visit our deep link data coverage page for a list of participating offices and the data coverage they provide.
From this page you can also download information on countries' integration status in the Federated Register and the deep-linking service.
We'll let you know when more deep links become available to the registers of the remaining member, extension and validation states.
