INFORMATION FROM THE EPO
Notice dated 4 July 2002 concerning the revised Request for Grant form
A revised Request for Grant form (Form 1001) was issued at the beginning of July 20021.
The main changes in the revised version are as follows:
- Section 32 (Designation of contracting states and associated declarations) has been restructured to make individual declarations and their relationship with one another clearer. The footnote to Section 32.1 has also been updated to include Turkey2 and the new contracting states as of 1 July 20023, namely the Slovak Republic, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Estonia.
- In the Receipt for documents (Section 47), the "Number of copies" column has been deleted. Pursuant to the decision of the President of the European Patent Office dated
15 November 20014, only one copy of the description, claims, drawings and abstract of a European patent application is to be submitted. This supersedes the earlier requirement for these documents in triplicate.
The revised form and amended Notes are reproduced below.
The use of the revised form is recommended. However, remaining copies of the previous version5 may be used without prejudice to applicants' rights.
For technical reasons, the forms embedded in this article are only available in the PDF version.
1 The revised form ("EPA/EPO/OEB Form 1001 07.02") is obtainable free of charge from the EPO (preferably from Vienna, but also from Munich, The Hague and Berlin) and the central industrial property offices of the contracting states. An editable version in pdf and Word for Windows formats is available on the Office's Web site at "http://www.european-patent-office.org".
