Report of the 82nd meeting of the Administrative Council of the European Patent Organisation held on 11 October 2000
The Administrative Council of the European Patent Organisation held its 82nd meeting in Munich on 11 October 2000 with Mr Roland GROSSENBACHER (CH) presiding.
The Administrative Council appointed Mr Manuel DESANTES REAL (ES) to the position of Vice-President Directorate-General 5 and mandated its chairman to enter into negotiations with him with a view to concluding a contract. The newly appointed vice-president will take office in 2001.
The Council adopted the President's proposal to amend Rule 94 of the European Patent Convention to allow free, online file inspection and to introduce a new Rule 38(a) on the issuing of priority documents (see below). It also adopted the proposal to bring the 1984 arrangement concerning the reduction of fees for international search and preliminary examination carried out on international applications filed by nationals of developing countries into line with the WIPO criteria (see EPO OJ 2000, 446).
