ISO audit underscores EPO’s commitment to excellence

Update on ISO certifications for quality, information security and occupational health & safety management systems.
To demonstrate our commitment to continual improvement and the implementation of best practices, a decade ago the European Patent Office (EPO) started to adopt ISO management standards. These guide us in ensuring consistent quality, achieving operational excellence and building trust with our stakeholders. Our commitment is reflected in the high-quality products and services we deliver to our users; in the high standards of health and safety in place to safeguard our staff and stakeholders; and in securing the data and information with which we are entrusted.
In September 2024, external ISO auditors conducted a surveillance audit of EPO management systems. The Office is pleased to announce that it has successfully maintained its ISO certifications for quality (ISO 9001), occupational health and safety (ISO 45001) and information security (ISO 27001).
The audit also confirmed the successful transition to the new ISO 27001:2022 standard, in light of the EPO further strengthening its information security management system.
Once again, the EPO has reaffirmed its commitment to excellence by demonstrating the ability to meet international standards and implement best practices across all operations.
Through its Integrated Management System (IMS), the EPO consolidates various systems and processes into a unified framework, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products and services while driving continuous improvement in its operations.
