Switzerland and Liechtenstein to be bound by Chapter II of the PCT
1. Switzerland and Liechtenstein will become bound by the provisions of PCT Chapter II (international preliminary examination) on 1 September 1995 following withdrawal of their declarations under Article 64(1)(a) PCT.
2. As from this date and irrespective of whether the international application is filed before, on or after 1 September 1995
(a) nationals and residents of these states may submit demands for international preliminary examination of international applications filed by them; and
(b) these states may be elected in demands for international preliminary examination, or in later elections, submitted in respect of international applications in which they are designated states.
3. The Swiss Federal Intellectual Property Office acting as competent receiving Office for Switzerland and Liechtenstein has specified the EPO as International Preliminary Examining Authority (IPEA).
4. Applicants are recommended to take note of the Information for PCT applicants concerning the procedure before the EPO as an IPEA under PCT Chapter II, published in OJ EPO 1994, 681.
