Fax services discontinued in appeal proceedings
Having already stopped sending outgoing fax communications on 1 March 2023, from today, the EPO will no longer accept submissions by fax (Decision of the President of the European Patent Office (EPO) dated 22 April 2024, OJ EPO 2024, A41). The Boards of Appeal will similarly stop accepting faxes in appeal proceedings from 1 July 2024 (proceedings before the Disciplinary Board of Appeal will remain unaffected). The web-based Online Filing 2.0 service offers a modern and convenient way to file applications and other documents in the patent grant process. In emergencies, the EPO Contingency Upload Service is available via the EPO website as a fallback service.
