Ólafur Elíasson’s first solo show in Qatar

At the National Museum of Qatar, Icelandic-Danish artist Ólafur Elíasson continues his experimentation with light and colour, geometric configurations, ecological awareness and more-than-human relationships. His show, entitled “The curious desert” until 15 August 2023, follows on from the monumental work of public art that he created for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, entitled "Shadows Travelling on the Sea of Day." This offers visitors the opportunity to step under large round mirrors supported by oversized rings in the desert just north of Al Zubarah. They see themselves and the ground beneath their feet – a kind of a reality check on the connection with Earth.
