Welcome to the new EPO website

The EPO is pleased to launch its new website today. With an improved search experience, informative sections for inventors and SMEs, a transparency portal and a responsive design optimised for all devices, the new EPO website has been designed to meet the evolving needs of our users in the digital era.

In re-developing the site, we gathered input from user satisfaction surveys, focus groups, usability tests and our customer services. Today’s re-launch reflects your feedback, significantly improving the site’s navigation, search experience and overall look and feel.

Familiar structure and some new features

Our research showed that users are happy with the site’s structure, so you will recognise many navigation labels. However, you may notice some slight changes as we introduce new areas and services.

The oral proceedings calendar has been enhanced with additional filters for proprietor, opponent, representative and location – information that is also now shown in the results listing.

We have introduced a transparency portal that provides access to essential documents and reports, making it easier for you to find information about the EPO, its governance and services.

We have also added a “New to patents?” section aimed at inventors and SMEs to help them decide if patent protection is right for them. It includes plain language explanations, points readers to free tools and invites them to take our quiz to test their knowledge. The section aims to bridge the gap between inventors and the complex world of intellectual property.

Better search results

Search is one of the top topics in our user feedback. With the re-launch, we have changed the search engine, the presentation of the search results and introduced improved filters to help you find what you are looking for more easily.

Modern, responsive design

The new epo.org is fully responsive and optimised for all devices: desktop computers, tablets or smartphones.

Sustainability through green IT

In developing the site, we have implemented best practices to minimise its carbon footprint. By adopting a greener approach, the EPO aims to provide a better service while working towards its goal of carbon neutrality by 2030.

Tell us what you think

Please explore and let us know what you think of the new site by using the feedback form. While we aim to make the change as smooth as possible, we cannot rule out that you may encounter some issues with our site during the first few days. Please report problems using the feedback form and we will do our best to fix any issues quickly.
