Decision of the President of the European Patent Office dated 16 January 2025 concerning the issuing of electronic priority documents
The President of the European Patent Office,
having regard to Rule 54 of the European Patent Convention (EPC) and Rule 21 of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT),
having regard to the decision dated 9 February 2024 concerning the web-based online service MyEPO Portfolio and electronic notification to the Mailbox in proceedings under the EPC and the PCT (OJ EPO 2024, A20),
has decided as follows:
Article 1
Issuing electronic priority documents
1. On request via MyEPO Portfolio, the European Patent Office (EPO) issues certified copies of European patent applications and international (PCT) applications (priority documents) in electronic format.
2. Priority documents issued electronically are made available via Mailbox.
Article 2
Technical specifications
Priority documents are issued in electronic format in accordance with the technical specifications published by the EPO.1 Such technical specifications may be revised upon announcement in the Official Journal of the EPO.
Article 3
Entry into force
This decision enters into force on 1 February 2025.
