EPO support for EPAC candidates

The European Patent Academy offers EPAC candidates a free-of-charge preparatory course, self-paced training materials, study groups to reinforce collaborative learning and more.

The second European Patent Administration Certification (EPAC) took place on 12 October 2023 in digital format, attracting candidates representing 43 nationalities.

Following its launch in 2022, this certification addresses the demand for a European certification in the field, which ultimately translates into tangible benefits for users of the European patent system. The certificate attests to successful candidates’ professional knowledge and ability to master a variety of procedures before the EPO.

Support for EPAC 2023 candidates to remain available

In preparation for the EPAC 2023, the EPO supported over 700 candidates by offering a free-of-charge preparatory course as well as self-paced training materials. Monthly study groups were also set up, allowing candidates to benefit from collaborative learning.

The third edition of EPAC will take place in 2024, complete with advances to further enhance the stamp of quality for professionals in the field of patent procedures, as well as aid professional development in line with UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (quality education) and contribute to the overall quality of the European patent system.
