Details about EBD files
- The EBD pages make it possible to download one or several weeks EP patent bibliographic data in XML (see below).
- This is text data only and the bibliographic data has the same data content as the weekly EPO Patent Bulletin.
- These files are complex and you will need a good understanding of EPO patent data to process them. Please refer to the information pages.
- These files can be quite large and may take some time to download - even though they are 'zip' files.

The weekly EBD ST.36 files are available as a bulk data set.

Decommissioning of EPO Smartcards
Please be informed that in the course of 2024 you will not be able to access EDB secure date via the Smartcard access point. The new access point will be via the Single Access Portal (https://epn.epo.org/) using 2FA. Once logged into Single access portal you will find the EBD page by following this path: Applications->Data Exchange-> Secure Bulk data set: EBD. If you do not have access to this page, this can be requested by sending a mail to nos@epo.org.
Enter your smart card and press the login button to go to the download page for the secure ST.36 files.
