Combinations of technologies

If the resulting product is new but obvious, it will not be patentable. However, if the combination is “more than the sum of its parts” and leads to surprising or unexpected performance, it may be patentable. If the existing technologies you’re combining are covered by patents that are still in force, you may need to buy licences.
