These are all inventions and patentable. The patent might relate to a whole class of compounds that share common features.

By contrast, substances which exist in nature are mere discoveries and not patentable unless the patent explains a new use to which these substances are being put – for example the use of a newly discovered gene to create a new test that predicts disease.
