The EPO has been involved in the contest since 1997, offering advice to national organisers and promoting awareness of patent issues to contestants. Two years later, the EPO Prize for Originality was established as a special award.
The EPO Prize is awarded by the full jury and is intended to encourage the development of qualities that distinguish successful inventors.
