INPADOC database - legal status data
Legal status data relates to information on the events during the lifetime of a patent.
14.11 contains legal status data also known as PRS data (Patent Register Service) and includes records from over 40 international patent authorities
The weekly exchange file contains only the most recently loaded events and does not include file history. The consolidated back-file contains all the legal status events in the database in ascending sequence of country-code / publication-number and split into files country-by-country.
For more details, please see our weekly statistics under contents and coverage of the INPADOC legal status file
In addition there is a weekly extended legal events file (XLEV) which translates the weekly bibliographic file (DOCDB) into legal events. The publication, application and priority data elements are tranformed into legal status event records. For more details see Newsflash 02.11.2006 - INF 2006/43 - Extended legal events and the XLEV attachment to the legal status description in the INPADOC manuals section (Description of extended legal event data).
